The City of Highland Park, in partnership with Wayne Metro, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), and Home Depot, is helping residents protect their families from lead exposure through The Faucet & Filter Safety Net Program.

This free program provides:

  • Free kitchen faucet replacement with Home Depot

  • Lead-reducing water filters and replacement cartridges

  • Home inspections to identify potential lead sources

  • Lead abatement services, depending on eligibility

Who Qualifies:

  1. Homes occupied by a child under 19 and/or a pregnant person enrolled in Medicaid.

  2. Homes with lead or galvanized plumbing, old faucets/fittings (pre-2014), or a lead service line.

  3. Properties located in Highland Park, Ecorse, or Hamtramck.

Once approved, MDHHS will contact you to schedule your inspection and coordinate faucet replacement.
